Water is pure, calm; While the worshiping space is a sacred and high place, worshiping water will show respect to the gods and ancestors.

In feng shui, water also brings fortune, prosperity and new life to the owner. Therefore, the house often displays fish tanks and waterfalls to increase the water element for the family.

Water in the Water element in the Five Elements theory has the role of activating the air source in the living environment.

Currently, the altar usually uses set of 3 cup or 5 cup and it has the following purposes:

• Set of 3 cup:  will represent the owner’s sincerity to the Gods, ancestors, aunts and uncles.

• Set of 5 cup: 3 cups in the middle represent offerings to the Gods, 2 cups on both sides offer offerings to ancestors.

You can use set of 3 cup or 5 cup altar depending on the size of your family’s altar. If your home altar has a small and narrow area, choosing 3 cup will be a more reasonable choice than the 5 cup. If the altar is spacious and has enough room to place worship items, we should choose the 5th cup.

Note: The water in the cup is usually cold, spring water should not use carbonated water, colored water, tea.
